Revisiting and Communicating your Educational Philosophy/Purpose
Anyone remember in teacher-ed college when many of us wrote philosophy statements or essays for a 'foundations' course? After years in my career and my coursework, I decided to restate and refresh my purpose as an educator in a document that I revisit frequently and present to students/families at least once a term (actually after quarter breaks as well.) It serves to introduce and restate who I am as an educator and the 'why' of what I do, which serves as a good intro or reminder of the work and norms we do as a group and frames a welcoming, supportive and empathic context. See below.
How do you introduce yourself and your purpose? How do you revisit this personally or with your community of learners?
